Rose Park Golf Course is home to The First Tee of Utah at Rose Park.

The First Tee curriculum introduces kids to character values and life skills integrated with junior golf lessons. The First Tee of Utah at Rose Park teaches golf, but more importantly, it teaches character values such as honesty, responsibility and perseverance. And it teaches life skills such as goal setting and resilience.

The First Tee of Utah at Rose Park has a wonderful story.

Guadalupe School in the Rose Park neighborhood of Salt Lake City serves some of the most economically and socially challenged members of our community, kids who face obstacles you and I can hardly imagine. A few years ago Guadalupe School built a new facility adjacent to the 17th tee at Rose Park Golf Course. In fact, construction of the school required reconfiguration of the 17th hole.

But that proximity did not immediately translate into opportunity, much less connection.

But by bringing The First Tee to Rose Park and the kids at Guadalupe School, The First Tee of Utah at Rose Park broke down the barrier keeping these wonderful kids from believing that they can go anywhere their dreams, talent and hard work will take them.

The First Tee of Utah at Rose Park is now offering these programs to any and all kids at junior golf classes at Rose Park Golf Course. Classes are under the direction of PGA Golf Professional Derek Schmehl, with highly experienced junior golf instructor Sean Pressey serving as the Program Director.
